T O L L E/ L E G E Part II
(read and learn)

here's some of my observations while on short visit to manila, last week.

roaming around manila and trying to visit some of my friends, i am very observant on what i see and read along the way. here's some more of the things i like to share:

111. along cuneta ave in pasay is a small beauty parlor (i will not mention the name) the ads is very striking, and it sez:

"WE DO FACIAL, MANICURE, PEDICURE,MASSAGE,REFLEXOLOGY WITH ALL IMPORTED MATERIALS"

what on earth is the imported materials used in massage and reflexology ? i did not stop and asked the owner.

222. a funeral home along San Andres Bukid in the fourth district of manila has a slogan that reads:

"WE VALUE THE DEAD AND WE ALWAYS THINK ABOUT DEATH"

ano ba yan! if i interpret this on my own, is the owner of the funeral home wishing to have plenty of dedmas.? maybe the owner is a fan of the GRATEFUL DEAD BAND.

333. there is a small balot stand along Las pInas, with a small sign that sez:

'BALOT SA PUTI,PENOY BALOT AT BUGOK NA BALOT"

who on earth buys bugok na balot. dont' ask me, cuz i dont eat balot.

444. a big grocery store in Paranaque has a security desk at the entrance. plenty of shoppers and maybe trying to avoid shoplifters requires customer to leave their hand carried belongings by the door, here's the sign at the counter:

"IWANAN LAHAT NG DALA DITO SA COUNTER, HINDI PUWEDE AND SAPATOS AT SINELAS AT PAYONG"

wow, very polite siguaro some of the customer, imagine the sign will not allow sapatos and sinelas.

555. there is a carinderia at the intersection of remedios and carolina st in malate with a sign that sez:

"WE ARE OPEN 25 HOURS A DAY, NO CHRISTMAS, NO NEW YEAR"

saan kaya galing ang relos ng owner of this carinderia?

666. along adriatico st is a wanted ad and it reads like this:

"WANTED LABANDERA, GOOD PAY, BRING YOUR OWN WASHING MACHINE"

papasok ba akong labandera if i own my washing machine or high tech na ang labandera sa atin?

777. one of the beer house at the red light district of Pasay has an ad posted that reads like this:

"WANTED DANCERS, NO COSTUME NEEDED, EXPERIENCED REQUIRED,NO TRIALS"
"KNOWS HOW TO SPEAK JAPANESE,KOREAN AND ARABIC"

am i missing something here--- this ad is not looking for a dancer, i think the ad is looking for an interpreter or linguist. if i speak three languages, why will i dance on a strip joint?

888. a graffiti at El Grande ave inside BF homes reads like this:

"BAWAL UMIHI DITO, PAG NAHULI KO GUGUPITIN KO"

while i was reading this sign, there is already a man standing there relieving himself. i did not see if the "gugupitin portion" really happened.

999. there is a bakery inside BF homes that sells good bakery products, but there is a sign that really intrigues me, it reads:

"SELF SERVICE, DONOT EAT THE BREAD WHILE IN LINE "

why bother to fall in line when you are already eating the bread.

010. a jeepney sign is very controversial at times. here's one that really craked me up, it reads:(the routing of this jeep is Baclaran and Sucat)

"KUNG MARUNONG KANG BUMUKA, MAYROON AKONG TRABAHO PARA SA IYO"

eh, unisex kaya ang trabahong ito?

011. there is seafood market along sucat near the airport that you can shop at the wet market and they will cook it for you and you can eat also on the spot. there is a sign that reads like this:

"ITURO MO - - ILULUTO KO, DAHAN DAHAN LANG ANG TURO"

siguro maraming gutom na cutomer itong place na ito, who are all in a hurry to eat.

oh pilipinas kong mahal, you and your people are so unique and so imaginative.

I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH.
